Special Views

NuvoPad provides four built-in views that give quick access to specific subsets of your notes regardless of notebook structure: All Notes, Inbox, Favorites, and Trash.

All Notes

Displays every active note in your workspace — all notebooks combined — ordered by most recently updated. Pinned notes float to the top. Trashed notes are excluded from this view.

Inbox

The Inbox shows notes that are not assigned to any notebook. It acts as a “capture zone” — when you create a new note quickly without thinking about organization, it lands here. You can file Inbox notes into notebooks at your own pace.

To “unfile” a note (return it to the Inbox), drag it onto the Inbox drop zone in the sidebar or use the context menu: Move to Inbox.

Favorites

Any note can be marked as a favorite. Favorites appear both in their original notebook view and in the dedicated Favorites view.

Toggle a note's favorite status via:

  • Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+D (while the note is open in the editor)
  • Right-click the note card → Favorite
  • Editor overflow menu (⋯) → Favorite
  • Drag the note card onto the Favorites drop zone in the sidebar

Trash

NuvoPad uses soft delete: when you delete a note it is moved to the Trash rather than permanently removed. This lets you recover notes that were deleted by mistake.

Moving a Note to Trash

  • Press Delete while a note is selected
  • Right-click a note card → Move to Trash
  • Drag the note card onto the Trash drop zone. A confirmation dialog appears before the move completes.

Restoring a Note

Open the Trash view from the sidebar. Right-click the note you want to recover and select Restore. The note returns to its original notebook (or the Inbox if its notebook was deleted).

Permanently Deleting a Note

From the Trash view, right-click a note and select Delete Permanently. This removes the note and its attachments from the database irreversibly.

Empty Trash

Click Empty Trash at the top of the Trash view to permanently delete all trashed notes at once.

⚠️ Warning

Empty Trash is irreversible. All notes in the Trash — and their attached files — are deleted from disk. Make sure you have no notes in the Trash you want to keep before proceeding.
