Tabs

NuvoPad supports opening multiple notes simultaneously using a tab bar. Tabs let you move quickly between notes without losing your place in the note list.

Opening a Note in a Tab

Click any note in the note list to open it. If no tab is currently open, the clicked note opens as the first tab. If a tab is already open, the new note opens as an additional tab.

The tab bar appears automatically above the note title area once two or more notes are open.

Switching Between Tabs

Click the tab label to switch focus to that note. The active tab is highlighted. The editor content, cursor position (Pro), and scroll position are all restored when you return to a tab.

Closing a Tab

Click the × on a tab to close it. Closing a tab does not delete the note — it remains in your note list. Any unsaved changes are flushed to the database before the tab closes.

📝 Note

If you close the last open tab, the editor area becomes empty. The note is not deleted; open it again from the note list at any time.

Tab Persistence

Open tabs are persisted across sessions. When you restart NuvoPad, the tabs that were open when you last closed the app are restored, including the active tab.

Cursor Position Per Tab (Pro)

When Settings → Editor → Cursor initial position is set to Remember last (a Pro feature), NuvoPad saves and restores the cursor position individually for each note. Switching between tabs lands you exactly where you left off.

On the Free tier, the cursor always moves to the default position (beginning of the document) when switching notes.
