Tags

Tags are labels you attach to notes. Unlike notebooks — which place a note in exactly one location — a single note can carry multiple tags, making them useful for cross-cutting categories like meeting, todo, or reference.

Creating a Tag

Tags are created in two ways:

  • Inline while editing a note: Click the tag input below the note title, type a new tag name, and press Enter. The tag is created and immediately assigned to the note.
  • From the sidebar: Right-click the Tags section header and select New Tag.

Tag Colors

Each tag can optionally have a color. To assign or change a color:

  1. Right-click a tag in the sidebar and select Edit Tag.
  2. Choose a color from the color picker.
  3. Click Save.

Tag colors appear as small colored dots on note cards and in the tag list, making it easy to visually scan note labels at a glance.

Assigning Tags to Notes

With a note open in the editor, click the tag input area below the note title. Start typing to filter existing tags, or type a new name to create one. Click or press Enter to assign the tag.

A note can have an unlimited number of tags.

Removing Tags from Notes

In the tag input area below the note title, click the × next to a tag chip to remove it from the current note. This does not delete the tag itself — only the association between that tag and this note.

Filtering Notes by Tag

Click any tag name in the sidebar Tags section to filter the note list to only notes carrying that tag. Click the tag again (or click All Notes) to clear the filter.

Tag Counts

Each tag in the sidebar displays a count badge showing how many notes currently carry that tag. This count updates in real time.

Renaming and Deleting Tags

Right-click a tag in the sidebar for options:

  • Rename — updates the tag name and its label on all notes that carry it.
  • Delete — removes the tag and detaches it from all notes. The notes themselves are not deleted.

📝 Note

Renaming a tag updates its display name everywhere instantly. There is no need to re-tag individual notes.
